Thank you so much for the idea of the ice cream treat. I can not find soy ice cream anywhere, I went to Walmart, Frys and Fresh and easy and I didn’t find it.
Leyla!
Hi Leyla.. First of all Kudos to you, for really being so careful with what you get for your little one! Everything above is fine. It has no milk or eggs. The bread is ok too.*** Sarah Lee Honey Wheat is the other bread i talked about****it now contains milk***so stay away. We bought the Sarah Lee Iron Kids that is safe., but the one above is safe as well. The soy icecream.. is called Soy Delicious Vanilla Ice cream. You can get it at any whole foods store, or any health market food section. Rice Dreams Vanilla Ice cream is another alternative. I wonder whether wal-mart carries it.. i am thinking they do.
****Sarah Lee makes bagels that your son can have too. The cinnamon Raisin, Blueberry, and honey wheat Bagels are all milk free and egg free too. *** You can get them at Sam’s , Wal-Mart, or any grocery store.
I meant to say too, The Soy Delicious Vanilla Icecream.. you can buy it from Wild Oats Store, Any healthy foods store in your area, Wal-Mart.. Our local store carries it ( you can ask like a salesperson there if they have it.) . I buy ours from Hy-Vee Health Market section.
On your email, i forgot to tell you where to get the soy butter….I buy that from wal-mart as well, i buy the creamy soy butter it is in the same isle with peanut butter. ***It looks like Peanut butter***My son loves it!
No problem at all! I know how you feel, let me know if you have any more questions…
By the way… along with the potato chips. Your little one can have Tostitos, Fritos, sun chips – Multigrain ( original), plantain chips etc.. Just look for ones that have no milk.
You are welcome!
You are definitely heading the right direction. The more variety of foods you can let him try to eat now, the better. Most allergenic kids tend to be more picky especially if they are eating same thing every day. I cook a lot at home, but also try to mirror what most children his age eat. He loves chicken.. anything chicken he will eat. I got him Tyson breaded chicken patties (they are milk free and egg free ) from Sam’s this weekend. This is the first time he has had a chicken sandwich. So as we go i am finding also more out there that he can eat.
Leyla, you will too…plus don’t ever feel like you are alone in this, there are so many of us dealing with food allergies daily.
You guys will be ok
Thank you so much. Today he was so happy he had his first sandwich of his life! I tried the Sara Lee bred and he loved it. It makes me worry every time that he has something new even if I know that it is okay and even if I saw the labels 50 times! Because his reactions are really bad every time that he had one (before we knew he was allergic) he ended at the ER so it makes me worry.
I think I will be on your blog for a long time =)
He was really picky when he was eating the same over and over that is why I am really amaze that he is eating everything that I try!
=)
I am sorry to hear about his ER visits. As a parent, you never really get over that. So knowing what he is allergic to now, makes it much easier as now you can help him avoid exposure. I can understand why you still worry trying new things, it will get better, especially once you start seeing you are on the clear, and no reactions after eating. Looking at David’s point of view, he fills like he is getting treats everyday. He is eating lots of good stuff everyday. Keep it up mommy!
Hi how are you doing?
I am doing great, trying something new al the time! He loves, loves soy butter I can’t believe it! Toter tots he was asking mama more more and all the things that you have been telling me…
I have two questions for you, what kind of candy do you get for Halloween?
And what kind of cereals do you buy?
And I just saw soy delicious chocolate ice cream, do you think is safe? I can’t find the vanilla flavor…
Thank you for everything
Leyla Moss
Hi Leyla-
I am doing great, thanks for asking! I am glad to hear you and your little one are enjoying eating lots of new foods—Allergy free !!! For candy we do the Jelly beans ( i get them from sam’s), he can have gummy bears…I don’t buy a lot of candy though. I can find out more choices for you and post. I am going shopping Saturday, i will check it out for you.
Cereal- Julian’s favorite is the Cheerios with 5 Multigrain- This one is safe and nutritious- he snacks on this as well as it is sweet,
Also the plain Cheerios from Sam’s is milk free and cheaper than the 5 multigrain.
I used to get him the Kellog’s corn pops, Kellog’s Raisin bran, or Kellog’s Rice krispies all this are milk free.
The Soy delicious chocolate is dairy free, so it safe and am sure David will enjoy it as much.
Keep up the good work mommy!
Leyla,
On what candy is safe to eat for your little one—
Most of the chocolate candy contain milk, so i would read the packaging very carefully. Even if milk is not listed, the allergen warnings may warn milk may be present.
You will be safe to go with any fruit base candy
These are Milk free and egg free: Skittles, Jelly beans, Mike and Ike fruit candies, Vine twists, starburst, Twizzler. I am sure there are tons of others, but this is what i could come up with.
Thank you so much
I never gave David candy before and I am not planning to do it just for Halloween so thank you again.
I haven’t get my SAMS membership so I got chicken nuggets from walmart,
Breaded Nugget Shaped Chicken Breast Patties with Rib Meat.
INGREDIENTS; bonless skinless chicken breast with rib meat, water, salt, sodium phosphates, breaded with bleached wheat flour, water, modified cornstarch, yellow corn flowur, salt, dextrose, contains 2% or less of leavening (sodium aluminum phosphate, sodium bicarbonate), natural flavors, extractives of paprika and turmeric
do you think they are safe? Once again for me they are but I don’t want to make any mistakes with him..like today something happened to us. I was eating my cereal (with milk) and David was done with his (with soymilk) and I don’t know what happened or how but he ended with my cereal on his head, his hair was white!! He had milk all over I started crying and I put him in to the tub and I bathed him and just wait for a reaction.. I think I cleaned him really good because nothing bad happened!
I think I am going to start drinking soy milk too
Aaw, sorry about your little mishap, and am glad there were no reactions. I think by you bathing him right away, that helped. He would have reacted if he actually drank the milk or the cereal in it, but you must have got it on time. Don’t beat yourself over it, accidents happen.
That is the correct chicken nuggets, they are milk free and safe for David.
On the Soy milk, my husband and I actually use that soy milk on our cereal too…
Thank you again and yes like I said I am going to start drinking soymilk because I don’t want any accidents.. I think he will have chicken nuggets today!!
Have a nice day you are so nice
leyla
I forgot .. is my mother in law birthday this week and I am sure they are going to have cake, do you know how to make icing without milk and eggs or what kind can I buy and where? I just feel bad that every time that someone has cake he can not have it…
I saw that Whole food store is not that far is like one hour from here so maybe I can go this weekend, what do you buy there? I really hope you never get tired of me I am so thankful to met you!
Leyla
Hi Leila,
Not problem! On the birthday party, bake your own cake for your little one.. I buy already made frosting from our local grocery store. I baked my husband the Duncan Hines Lemon cake, this is milk free and egg free. I bought the Always Save creamy fudge frosting. It was milk free and egg free. For baking the cake, In the place of eggs i used 2 mashed bananas, but you can also use 3 Tbs water, 3 Tbs oil, 2 tsp baking powder . I just prefer using bananas as Julian won’t eat the fruit only way to get it is through baking.
I found some recipes online for you, i have never tried, i always buy mine from the store.
Vanilla Silk Frosting
3 c confectioners sugar
1/2 cup soy margarine (available at health food stores)
3 Tbs water
1 tsp vanilla
OR
4 c. powdered sugar
1/4 c. water
1/2 t. vanilla, or other extract (optional)
Cocoa Frosting
1/2 c soy margarine
1/2 c Hershey’s unsweetened Cocoa powder
2 2/3 c unsifted confectioners sugar
1/4 c water
1 tsp vanilla
Directions
Blend with a spoon until smooth and creamy.
Be sure to bring his cake at the party, so he doesn’t miss out.
Let me know, if you have any questions.
Sophia

WHOLE WHEAT ANGEL HAIR PASTA
From Heartland
INDREDIENTS:
Whole grain durum wheat but it says
Processed in a facility that uses egg (do you think this cand be bad)
The pasta may not contain the egg, but if David is highly allergic to egg even little traces from the pasta may cause a reaction. Julian eats that and has been ok so far, and it is because his allergist had given us the go ahead. The only things that i don’t give him is anything that could contain peanuts or nuts, fish or milk as this we would need to use an Epipen.
ok thank you!
So I won’t try the pasta then.
So everything else is okay? Sorry I read everything and it looks okay to me but like I said before I always like to know if someone else tried it before just to double check
Thank you!
No problem! The rest was ok, and good call on that pasta. There is rice pasta and wheat pasta that you can get from the whole foods store that is safe for your little one.
Hi how are you doing?
Thank you so much I was telling my husband that I don’t even feel like David has food allergies because he can eat so many things now that everything seems easier.
He is potty trained! (still having few accidents but he is just 18 months old) but his prices every time that he goes is a tiny piece of Oreo! And that makes everything easy he loves them!
Thank you again I hope you are doing good
Hi Leyla,
I am doing great, thanks for asking! I am happy for you and your family as well – There’s nothing more stressful than having to worry daily about what to feed your child. With time, you will discover more things that he can have and the rest is just healthy living.
