Angela Montez of Indianapolis was at work and a man  came in with a gun trying to rob the place.  In the moment of panic, of all the things she could have done, scream, give up or God knows what – she decided to pray. She  prayed for the gunman, and oh boy,  don’t  you ever take God for granted! The man took a knee  as well and prayed with Angela for a good 10 minutes. Then they sat down and talked for another 30 min.

Angela found out the guy was just a desperate dad, trying to make  another dollar to take care of his boy.  He left with $20, and was later arrested. The good news, no one was hurt and he handed Angela the last bullet from the gun!

The power of prayer!

Here’s that video

LONDON, England (CNN) — A $5 million prize to reward good leadership in Africa was dramatically awarded Monday to … nobody.
Businessman Mo Ibrahim talks about the prize at a news conference in London, England, on Monday.

Wow… Now that would have been a prize!!!

I can’t believe that the board could not find not one African leader worth the prize!

According to CNN, Mo Ibrahim, is  a Sudanese-born businessman who made a fortune in the cell phone industry, he  established the foundation bearing his name in 2006.  According to Ibrahim, when the foundation began awarding the prize, he said at the time “that there may be years when no winner is chosen, and this is such a year.”
There is a lot of money to be made in Africa’s cell phone industry… Seriously! I bet Ibrahim is a billionaire.  Most people don’t have land lines and  so for most who now own cell phones, they just buy phone cards  ( which are riduculosly prized) to use.  One can spend $100 or even more a day on phone cards… very easily.  For most, text messaging is the way to communicate.  The last time i was in Tanzania i spent $500 on phone cards, and i was only there for a month. On the more positive note though,  it is good people can own cell phones, you can talk to people in the villages anytime, day or night.. you don’t necessarily have to take a trip to see how your loved one is doing.

Connecticut's Jasper Howard (6) was killed early Sunday morning outside of a school dance.

This just sucks!   I heard this on the news, and read on CNN as well “Cornerback Jasper Howard called his mom Saturday night after Connecticut beat Louisville, and he was given the game ball. He was thrilled. The incident happened at 12:33 a.m., shortly after a sponsored student dance on campus.  1 of 2  Just hours later, the phone rang again. This time it was UConn football coach Randy Edsall notifying her that her son had been stabbed. He was pronounced dead early Sunday.”

I have no idea what would have generated so much anger that someone can just take away another’s life like that, but it boils down to same thing that i talk about…How can we, parents,  protect our kids after sending them to school? Can you imagine getting that phone call! I pray for this family and hope they find peace and comfort during this difficult time.

He was only 20 yrs old, trying to make something for himself, what a life just cut short!  Let’s pray for our children,  raise them to be better men, getting them to live right.  Hope  Jasper’s killer will be brought to justice, soon.

Jon Gosselin Ordered to Give Back $180,000

Every website that i read, every  news i watch, there is Jon and Kate’s divorce saga, and i ask myself what about the kids?

I don’t care how bad your spouse is, when you have kids together, you can’t go and announce to the whole world how much you hate and despise your spouse.  Your kids love you both, regardless of the drama in your life, they probably need to hear more from both parents as assurance that regarless of how bad things will get that they can always come back and talk to either mom or dad about it.

So Jon apparently cleaned out their bank account…This is more reason why married people should still have separate accounts.  Should people decide to have a joint account, be sure  it is a percentage of your money going in there not all of it. Like financial experts or your own parents would say,  It is money be smart about it!

Some  people get so angry at each other that they forget about the impact their actions would have on their children.  Since they have 12  bank accounts between them, i hope the 8 accounts are for their children. Everyone in that family was making money not just Jon and Kate, and so hopefully Jon didn’t clean out the money that would have been for those 8 children as well.

Jon and Kate,  I am sure you won’t care what i have to say,  but of course , i will still say it … since  both of you have made up your mind to divorce, mind your kids and play civil. Words spoken can never be taken back, so tread smoothly, those children didn’t ask for this. Be the parents first, then  exes behind closed doors, goodluck!

What she told People magazine  about  her C- Section Delivery:

Everybody told me how much it was going to hurt afterwards but I think I have a different tolerance for pain than others. By that night after I had the baby, I’m like, ‘Look, I can’t sit in this bed anymore. I’ve got to get up!’ I’ve been up and about since he was born. To me, the pain is no different than when you work out a muscle you’ve never worked out before and it’s sore.”

Joel Osteen We didn’t go to church this Sunday, so my husband watched Joel on TV this morning and recommended i find today’s recording online. It was really good. Read below:

“Life is full of different seasons. There are growing seasons, where we’re seeing increase and promotion and making all kinds of progress and then there are seasons of trials, difficulties and hardships where it seems as if we are taking a step backwards. It may seem so, but it’s during the pruning seasons that God is positioning us for something greater.

If we are going to become everything God has created to be, just as we receive the growing seasons in life, we have to accept the pruning seasons, as well. God will never take something away without putting you in a position to receive something new. What you think may be the worst thing that could have happened could turn out to be one of the best.

When you’re in a slow season and not seeing any growth and it seems as if things important in your life are being taken away, stay in faith; the disappointment and loss wasn’t meant to work against you, but for you. If you will stay in faith, that season will come to an end and you will come into a new season of growth, opportunity and new friendships. You are being pruned for one reason: so you can bloom, so you can blossom, so you can spread your wings and be everything God has created you to be.”

I found this story on People.com.  I like seeing more Stars visit Africa, i truly like that. It is  good exposure, plus there is a lot of appreciation for the culture, the people, and the land. There is life outside USA. There are folks who have never been outside their state, let alone this country. If you can really afford it, Go see the world! You may learn a thing or two about yourself, or other people.

You will also realize, there is so much you can live without. Like, people in Uganda or Tanzania  for instance.. depending with what part of the country you are at, the basic needs are a luxury. So Jessica is filming about her show the price of beauty… Jess, what did you think the people there would have done with all the bugs in the air? You should be glad you found a net for the mosquitos, for many that is not within their budget.

She did recognize the spirit of the people there, especially the women, and Kudos to you Jess… But Oh, please…those little bugs which were making your night time a nightmare…is nothihng sweetie. People there have lived through the worst, and still do. They wake up early in the morning, say 5AM carry their babies on the back, their luggage on the head, wearing torn apart flipflops, and washed down wraparound if not over sewn dresses. They walk to the farms, or markets where they will spend the whole day, and the only time they do fill beautiful is probably when they take a shower, or when they can finally buy a new dress .. for many maybe on Christmas.

Jessica Simpson Roughs It in Africa

Jessica Simpson is used to traveling in style – five-star hotels and restaurants, entourage in tow – but last week she experienced something brand new, by roughing it Uganda.

There, along with her BFFs Ken Paves and Cacee Cobb, she went to film the latest installment of her upcoming docu-series, The Price of Beauty, set to air sometime next year.

Posting a picture of herself looking forlorn as she peeked out from the giant mosquito net surrounding her bed, Simpson Tweeted on Sept. 23, “WTF?!? Do I really have to sleep like this?”

Only minutes earlier, Paves posted a shot of a gigantic spider and joked in a message to Simpson and Cobb, “Is this the Price of Beauty? Don’t let the bed bugs bite!”

A source close to Simpson told PEOPLE.com, “The accommodations were certainly interesting, but Jessica enjoyed being a part of a totally different culture.” Indeed, the following day, Simpson Tweeted, “LOVED my first day in Uganda meeting incredible women filled with spirit.”

But her sleeping arrangements were still on her mind. “Bedtime in the tent is questionable,” she Tweeted.

Mackenzie Phillips: I Slept with My Own Father | Mackenzie Phillips

“Don’t hate my father,” Mackenzie Phillips tells PEOPLE.

But in a tell-all book out Wednesday, the former childhood actress reveals that her dad, musician John Phillips of the ’60s band the Mamas and the Papas, engaged with her in a long-term incestuous relationship.

Phillips, 49, who has survived drug addiction, arrests and divorce, writes in the book High on Arrival that she was already a star playing a boy-crazy teen on the TV sitcom One Day at a Time when her father had sex with her on the night before she was to marry Jeff Sessler, a member of the Rolling Stones entourage, in 1979.

“On the eve of my wedding, my father showed up, determined to stop it,” writes Phillips, who was 19 and a heavy drug user at the time. “I had tons of pills, and Dad had tons of everything too. Eventually I passed out on Dad’s bed.”

Blackout

“My father was not a man with boundaries. He was full of love, and he was sick with drugs. I woke up that night from a blackout to find myself having sex with my own father.

“Had this happened before? I didn’t know. All I can say is it was the first time I was aware of it. For a moment I was in my body, in that horrible truth, and then I slid back into a blackout.”

Phillips’ life began to spiral out of control. In 1980, she was fired from One Day at a Time because of her constant drug use. That same year, she went to rehab – with her father. She even toured with him in a band called the New Mamas and the Papas. Her sexual relationship with him had become consensual.

Delusional

“I was a fragment of a person, and my secret isolated me,” she writes.

“One night Dad said, ‘We could just run away to a country where no one would look down on us. There are countries where this is an accepted practice. Maybe Fiji.’

“He was completely delusional. No, I thought, we’re going to hell for this.”

OMG.. The Georgia  rains were pretty serious. I read this story on CNN about the  father  who lost his 2 year old boy to flood.

“”In Carroll County, Georgia, a 2-year-old boy died after fierce floodwaters ripped him from his father’s arms while the father struggled to hold on to bushes, officials said.”

Oh my goodness… I am crying for this family. Can you imagine what the father has to be going through right now…Imagine having to watch your baby get swept away right in front of you and there is nothing you can do to save them….I mean my heart breaks out for this family… the mother and just the entire family, they will have to live and deal with this tragedy for the rest of their lives.  I hope they find strength in each other, and my prayers are with all the victims.

We have family in Atlanta, Thank God they are safe at the moment.  The  current death toll has now  risen to 8.

So if you have loved ones in the state of Georgia,  please check up on them to make sure they are ok.  Stay safe.
