My Goodness… It has been a headache.

I am trying to travel overseas and of course, i waitd till the last minute to check my travel documents only to be greeted with an Expired passport, so of course my travel agent had to break news to me that the airline that i wanted to use will not accept travel documents, at least to get me home where i would gladly renew my good ol’ passport.

I really don’t want to have to use a different carrier as i am going to be stuck in long lay overs, and with 2 children…did i mention with a 9 month old baby? Dang! What was i thinking?

So, word of advice, renew your IDs, passports etc on time! Don’t do what this woman here did, now am left with limited options…. Yes i could go ahead and renew from here, but it is much longer process, and will not make it home for Easter …I know.. Yikes!

I just got Eli to finally sleep. Something is not right with him, in addition to the teething, i think he may either have another ear infection, or some other pain. So, i will have to take him to the Dr tomorrow morning for a checkup. I am tired and could definitely use some sleep myself before he wakes up again.

Baby Eli @ 3 1/2 mos

Every time the kids get sick, or i have to worry sick about something going on with them, am reminded of my own mother, and how she always talked about what we put her through…oh mama, now i understand what you meant, sorry for the pain but i am sure it was worth it, definitely!

So, if you or your loved ones are sick today, i pray you feel better soon. I know some of you who are going through major treatments, may be afraid to go back to the Dr’s offices again, but it will be ok, just don’t lose hope. Hang in there, work with your Dr’s and be honest with them. If you have any questions ask, there are no stupid questions. When my husband takes Julian for a Dr’s appointment, i make him a list of questions to take with him. The Dr is there to work with you by getting you on the right track, back to recovery, so find a Dr that you are comfortable working with. You have to be able to be open and build a trusting relationship with your Dr, otherwise you find yourself holding back, and you won’t get the care you need.

For a child, take a favorite toy or book with you to use in the waiting room. It is easy to catch some bugs from playing with some of the toys in the waiting areas, remember other sick children also touched them. The same can apply to us adults too, how many of us read the magazines at the Dr Office.

Stay healthy.

Who remembers this question? I know I do. I used to know then what I wanted to be, then I grew up. Then all I was interested in is who was hiring at the time, and what position, then of course came this answer if asked, I can do whatever the job description says. You stay in one position for so many years, and become so good at your job, so when time comes to move on to other things, you start looking for similar roles again in other companies.

So, my question to you is, what do you want to be when you grow up? Will it be, whatever pays? Whatever your family or friends recommend? Whatever is out there or will it be what you really want?

So what is it that you want? It can’t be — you don’t know. Surely, you know. What do you like doing the most? What is your hobby? What is the one thing that you could do for free, and only because it doesn’t even feel like a job to you? What are you good at? What is it that you do so well that your family and friends call you up to do it for them?

Do you know why rich people are rich? They take risks, big time risks! I am not rich. I am way far from being rich, but I would like to be rich someday…So do you, and everyone else out there ): See , I envy successful people. Take for instance Oprah, now that is a brilliant businesswoman. She is quite something! I don’t believe anything got handed to her, uh ah. She worked her butt off to get to where she is. I bet she has lots of stories- many stories, her struggles, ups and downs. Did she doubt herself? Probably. Did she keep on going forward? obviously. She identified her passion, sat down and outlined her steps to get to where she wanted to be, and there she is, one of the world’s richest women alive.

Oprah can get anyone to talk. I have watched her shows, and again, phenomenal. She has been doing her show for so many years, and always getting better and better. You can definitely tell that she loves her job. Who else gives her audience so many freebies like Oprah, and God knows how much she does off camera too.

Well, the point is we can all be whatever we aspire to be, we just need to figure out our hobbies, then start from there. I know deep down I am not maximizing my potential. I have so much to offer, so much to accomplish, and i just have to wake up one morning and just DO it. When i do, Ii will let you all know. If you are reading this, and you have doubts about yourself, know that you snooze you lose. Someone else out there may be thinking about that very same big idea that you have, and they get out there and get it done, now that’s painful! I know, I have been there.

So, what do you want to be when you grow up? What are you waiting for?

I visited Dr OZ website and found tons of good info there. One of them was about our nails and what they tell about our overall health..

Nails can signal whether you are suffering from a heart diseasse, immune disorders, or other infections.
If your nails color changes to yellow or green this could signal a problem with your respitory like brochitis, or from swelling of your hands (lymphedema)
Indentations that run across your nails called Beau’s lines this can happen when you are injured, have a severe illness like a heart attack.

Dr M. Roizen stated that ” A healthy, normal nail is smooth, without ridges or grooves (although these are often normal variants). Ideally, all the nails are uniform in color and consistency and free of spots or discoloration. ”

By the way, if you are trying to grow your hair, as i am here.. if you want to know whether your hair is really growing, don’t look further.. Look at your nails. Are they growing, long and healthy? If yes, so is your hair.

1. Don’t ever wake up a sleeping baby. If that baby is hungry, he will wake you… unless the baby is underweight.
2. Make your own baby food. limit the amount you buy , or consider that a supply to use for your diaper bag essentials.
3. Introduce all the veggies to that baby right from the beginning, and please don’t take away that spoon from his fingers because you are worried about him making a mess, you can clean it up. Otherwise you are going to end up with a 4yr old that still wants you to feed him, even though he clearly can do it himself.
4. There is no set schedules for feedings, feed that baby on demand, period.
5. Be your child’s voice. If people keep on making such a fuss about how your child can’t do this or that while other kids his age can ?…Hey shut them up politely, you are proud of your child either way , children develop differently. If the Dr doesn’t see it as a problem? Then you shouldn’t either.
6. Not all kids clothes fit the same.. especially onesies, always buy sizes up. They shrink a whole lot when washed.
7. Don’t buy too many newborn clothes, especially if your baby is born of normal weight. Trust me he may not fit after 2-3 weeks.
8. Accept help from family and friends, this is not the time to show everyone how you can do it all, you may be able to, but why in the world would you want to while your two hands are already full.
9. The last couple of weeks before delivery, make some meals and freeze them up so you have food when you come home.
10. Buy your groceries and stock up with all your necessities before delivery, including your toiletries of course.
11. Do all your laundry and have your husband or family help clean up your place, so you can come back to a clean home.
12. If you are having a C-section, get yourself some granny panties, seriously.. get some briefs. they will come all the way to your belly and cover that Incision ..It will hurt if pressed.
13. Get your hair done at least 3 weeks before your due date. The first month with your baby we call each day fully booked, unless you are one of the lucky ones of course.
14. Pack an extra diaper bag to leave in the car. Trust me this will come in handy when you least expected.
15. Have an extra changing station in your house where you stash some diapers, so when you do run out there is always extra diapers somewhere.
16.The first couple of weeks, take a nap when the baby sleeps. Seriously, those dirty dishes can wait for that 30 min -1 hr. You will be in a better mood and have energy to take care of the baby.

As always, enjoy every moment of your child’s early days, they sure pass fast!
