Happy Friday!

So,  it is quiet in my place except for the A/C unit running on the background. No music here no TV, of course except for this keyboard clicking :) Eli is taking a nap with classical music playing  in his room.  Julian is on a field trip from his pre – school and this mama here is on a little break. mmmmh, huuuh. Breathing in and out, deep breaths in and out, can be very relaxing.. try it sometime.

I actually woke up early today with some aches and pains. I need a warm bubble bath and some massage…mmmh a day spa would be the ultimate gift! So do i do now… get my butt off this computer go make some lunch then get ready to go to work, all sound like fun, huh.. it is the typical day of a mama. So when you get some quiet moments alone, it feels like serenity.

I miss my mother, she wasn’t feeling too good either when i last talked to her on Sunday… I need to call her tonight.

Did  i tell you all that i just had a birthday? Yeah i did.  The numbers are getting bigger, but i am definitely getting younger at heart and spirit, lol… Everyone’s favorite statement. Nothing is stopping me from pursuing my goals, and every day is a gift.

So, i may have some aches and pains here and there, but nothing is going to stop me from walking out of the door and carry on with my life…So no excuses for you, if you can breathe and walk, get up and do something today. Go for a walk at the park,  plan a day out with your family or friends,  hit the gym, of course  before or after work,  or like my favorite yoga instructor would say try something new!

With everything else,  bonne chance! et bon weekend!

Happy Father’s Day!

Print

I would like to wish my husband, my dad, and all the other fathers of this world a happy fathers day today. I know there is no way i could have  done this parenting without my husband beside me. I see how our two little boys look at him, look up to him, and i know when they call him Daddy, ain’t no one else in this world mean the most to them like their daddy.

I can’t even begin to count how many times both boys call their daddy in a day… Daddy can you help me please? Daddy can you fix it? Daddy can you open it? Daaada.. Daddy it’s broke again! i mean that list is endless…

So, for all the daddies out there that are taking full responsibility of their children, and for the ones that have stepped into that role…I salute you. Here’s to you! May you have the strenghth to carry on this God given gift and responsibility, for as long as you shall live. It isn’t easy and it isn’t for the weak either, however one can agree, if taken seriously, it is one of the most rewarding jobs out there.  Not one single day is the same, and no matter how crappy your day can be…when you are greeted with that precious little smiley face, it is just hard not smiling back.. So Enjoy your children at every milestone in this life.

I look back at my childhood and there are soo many memories of my family and i. I can  tell you this, the ones that stand out the most are the ones with time spent with my father. For all the fathers out there, rich or poor…If there is one thing you do not want to ever regret, is not spending time with your child. I don’t care how rich you are, how many nannies or sitters your money can pay for… Your child wants YOU. Take that time to spend it with them as much as you can. If you really look at it, No matter how old we get, we always need  our parents.

Sometime you just want to talk to them, joke with them, play with them,  get a good hug, hear some  encouraging words, how about ” i love yous” , ” you can do it “, or just get a little advice.  I mean you know what i am talking about.

There’s nothing i love doing at home, than watching my boys play around with their dad. Anytime he is playing with one, the other one just doesn’t want to be left out. It is really a great way for them to bond together.

So wherever you are, whatever you do today, make sure you have reached out to your father or child and just share the love for today.

Happy fathers day to you all!

Happy father’s day dad, I will always love you!

I am trying to keep up with this boys…They are quite fun. They have their moments, i have my moments that’s for sure, but for the most time, we have great times together. Julian’s uncle came to spend this Sunday with them…of course most of the soccer fans are all into world cup, so a break from all the fun games is family with us.

Happy belated birthday Eli!

Print

So my little man turned 1 on Tuesday June 8th and i can’t tell you how happy i am. He is growing so fast, i mean ..don’t all kids! I look at him and ask myself , where did all that 365 days gone?

I love it when he calls me mama. I bet his dada will agree too, given that little stinker already figured out there is more action around daddy especially at 5 am than mama. He wakes up and yells for his daddy.. he goes daaa… then daaaada, then didididididiii! Of course poor daddy can’t ignore him any longer and all i can say, thank God off you go to your daddy, while you are at it, make sure you bug him for some yummy breakfast, too. :)

My husband is really good with the boys and they just adore him.  So Eli got so much attention this week and including a trip to get some 1 yr photos taken, and we squeezed in big brother’s 4 yr old photos too.

Keeping up with the boys

Print

I know it has been a while since i last posted. Hey i had to catch up with all my fav shows and finally watching the finales, lol…Plus studying for my GMAT , i need to go back to school.

So the boys are doing great. I can’t believe Eli is going to turn 1 next week, yes it flew by. I am officially getting Ooold! Eli has been such a good eater, so far we have not found any food that he doesn’t like, but as for his big brother, 4 year old Julian..it s a completely different story. He has succeeded to frustrate his teachers at pre-k since he is not eating at school, and of course his mama as well. How can i love cooking this much, but have a child that wants nothing to do with most of my cooking?

I keep on hearing how good he will eat when he grows up, how he will ravish every meal that i put in front of him, how he will surprise us…mmmmh Julian? I will believe it when i see it, plus hey i want him to eat now, or begin like today.

So dealing with picky eaters is not fun, it is not easy, but hey they still gotta eat and they still have to get all their nutrients in. What am i doing? V8 fusion veggies& fruit  juices, chicken nuggets, baked fries, raw baby carrots, sneaking in other veggies, whole grain cereals, and definitely vitamins, precisely the flinstones gummy bears …the rest,  just  taking it one day at a time.

When it comes to Eli, we take away food from him. Yeah, i guess no two kids can be alike in everything, plus what fun would it be without any little challenges here and there. I am still breastfeeding him, and hope to keep up for another year.

Eli has 4 little teeth, and is trying to walk. This week he took 3 steps, like up and running, so we are excited to watch him. It is just so amazing watching the firsts. The first smile, the first tooth, the first heartfelt – belly laugh, the first bye bye wave, the first slobby kiss, the first ‘mama, ‘dada’….uh mmmmh .. The firsts are always the best!

I look at my boys and as every day passes by , i know in my heart, i have never felt happier. They challenge me to be better, want more, and push myself to achieve all my set goals. I want them to look at me one day and say, i learned this from my mom and whatever it is, i hope it is something good or will enrich someone else out there.

Love you all…

I will post more often, hey wish me luck as i get ready for graduate school. This mama will be busy, that’s for sure.

For the love of Julian

Print

So, when we went to Tanzania, there were several things that Julian missed playing with. We definitely learned fast when he got back home which ones they were. So you know jet lag was a killer for me, so you can imagine a 4 year old and a 10 month old baby, you are talking about unwinding from a 8-9 hours ahead time zone!  Hey, talking about jet lag ? but of course that did not keep our Julian away from his favorite thing of all …The computer.

His dad took this photos of him moments after playing on the computer. i was going through pics off that camera and i saw them and i couldn’t help but share… Oooh Julian.

He is really a good kid. He was always by my side throughout our trip. My mom joked once, he was sent by his dad to keep an eye on me :) He knows a lot, and he definitely makes us  very proud daily.

So, we decided that he starts pre-school. He is in the summer program at Faith Academy, Kansas City MO. He was very excited about starting school. He cried when i dropped him off, but you can see he was happy by the pick up time :) He woke me up Tuesday morning, saying he was ready for school. I have to admit, i woke up smiling. I can’t believe my son is old enough to be in school.

Eli is missing Julian a lot during the day. He calls JJ a lot when he is gone and he crawls and sits by the door just stares at the door as if waiting for him to come running in. It is great seeing them together. Julian is playing more rough with him lately, we are constantly reminding him to be gentle and that is still a work in progress.

Overall they are both doing great, and Julian loves Eli A LOT, and i couldn’t be happier.

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend and have a great week ahead, till then kwaheri. Goodbye.

Seeing monsters?

Print

Ouch! So i scared Julian off about monsters back during our trip to Tanzania. Yeah, i know what you are thinking now… Sometime you just do what you got to do…Well, now he can’t sleep. The boy woke up last night  almost fell off his bed,  ran into our room jumping to our bed pushed some of us on the side while he sandwiched himself between us. He said there was a monster in his room.

He just came out of his room again, saying there was a monster under the covers. Oh dear. I need to fix this. Telling him they don’t exist is definitely not an option. mmmmh.

Some of the many fun times  in the parenthood :)

The Trip

Julian - in KilimanjaroKikelelwa River

The boys had a ball. Julian still talks about it. When we were in Kilimanjaro, he would wake up and go check on the animals. Feed the cows, goats, chase after the cats. Oh poor cats, am sure “ daddy cat” is very much relieved right now Julian left. My mom has 2 cats, a male and a female cat. The female cat “ mama cat” doesn’t take any abuse from no one. It would scratch and try to scare off anyone that tried to get too close to her. Now the male cat “ daddy cat “ as Julian called  him, he was very friendly. He would let you stroke his back, scratch his ears, his belly and even hold him, and so my mischievous son decided he was his play buddy and would chase him around and laugh so loud.

Now he is back home, and he misses the cat, and has started asking if he can get one.He misses all the other kids too, plus his grandpa and grandma. He learned some Swahili while we were there and  this has encouraged us to teach him Swahili now that we are back.

He talks a lot about the trip, and it is great hearing him talk about it. They definitely got a lot of attention from everyone, and definitely a little spoiled too. I am very much ok with that, as they deserved it :)

My hometown, Kikelelwa is still the same. It is located down the slopes of Mt Kilimanjaro, Tanzania. It is gorgeous. Nice weather. very green.
