The Christmas Miracle story

Print

What would you do if you were given a second chance in life? I was watching Anderson Cooper  360 with CNN earlier yesterday, and he had this couple on the show talking about the woman was pregnant and had gone to labor 2 weeks early. Her husband took her to the hospital and due to severe labor pains they administered the epidural. They left the couple in the room alone, the husband was holding the wife’s hand and noticed she was cold, looked completely ashy, and had no pulse!

12:35AM Christmas she was dead.

They performed a C-section to get the baby out and the baby had no pulse either. They handed the baby to the husband, and he said when he held the baby, the baby  started breathing, 30 min later so did his wife.

Talk about second chances! I mean can you imagine this man in the room , knowing he drove his wife to deliver a baby and within hours he goes through life and death?  I  bet you he is still in la la’s land right now. Heck, i know my husband would be pinching me anytime i go to sleep to make sure am still there.

I call this story one of God’s miracles! God has the power to make the impossible just simply possible. It is stories like this give me a kick in the rear, reminding me, God he is, will be, and always will be our redeemer.

I thank him for everything, and i hope this family is thankful for their second chance to life as well.

Julian and snow - Can i play later?Julian  Julian out in the snow

We parents say a lot of things to our children. Stop that, don’t do it again, no, yes you can etc . We don’t realize really that they do pay attention and know very well what those  words mean and of course they can surprise us too. So we we were driving down the street after the day after Christmas , and prior to leaving our  parking lot i stopped and had explained to Julian how slippery the roads were and how driving in the snow could be dangerous, and that we will need to watch out for the other drivers too.

Well, We were going down the street and  getting ready to make a right turn at a stop light , and i slid just a little,  and Julian was terrified and screamed, Be careful mama before you get us in trouble!

I just smiled and apologized, and let him know that i would. I guess they learn best while on the move!

I hope you are having a good start of the year so far.

Sophia's New Year's Turkey - Before Sophia's New Year's Turkey - After

So, our Christmas Turkey ended up being baked New Years.  My husband seasoned it for me while i was at work and  when i came back, i soaked it in all that seasonings and lemon juice and let it marinate overnight,  then i baked it the following day.

I lined up a bed of celery and carrots then placed the Turkey,  breast down and baked it at 400 degrees for the first 30 min then i reduced heat to 350 for the remainder.

This turkey was  young,  and extra juicy that really cooked so well, to the point that the meat was falling off the bone. It was very tasty too.

For bread i baked one loaf of  fresh cranberry bread, and that was finger licking good!

Feeding Eli

Eli ready for lunchEli ready for lunch    Happy Eli after eating

It is January 2010 Eli will be 7 months next week, and his appetite has spiked up for sure. He is ready to feed himself, you can tell by how he grabs the spoon from our hands and puts it in his own mouth and has been picking up food from our plates.

We are doing cereal in the morning , fruit for lunch and mixed veggies and meats for dinner ( still pureed)

I still make his baby foods and it has been fun trying new foods for the first time.

Tomorrow morning we are doing scrambled egg yorks for the first time. Julian is allergic to eggs, but Eli tested negative, so i am still going to avoid the egg whites – which is the allergic part of the egg till he is at least one year old, but of course let him try this and see how he does.  Plus scrambled eggs will be good for finger foods.

He is getting a little constipated due to being on solid foods, so i have been giving him 1/2 teaspoon of prune juice and that has worked for us so far. Some people puree the prunes and mix them up with cereal, or add the prune juice to the baby milk…whatever works for you.

It is going to be an exciting year for sure, enjoy!
