Finally a quiet home…

Print

It is almost 7pm, Eli,Julian and daddy are all asleep. I don’t work on weekends, so i got to spend some time with my family. Eli was so excited to see me, he didn’t want daddy today but mommy, lol. I think daddy needed his break today too. He doesa good job during the week. He has figured out his own routine as well…

I have the whole kitchen and living room to myself right now. . I am tired i should be taking a nap before Eli calls, but i won’t. I have so much to do. I need to fold some laundry, then cook some chapatis and stew for my brother in law , Lug. He broke his ankle while jogging… and standing on his feet for too long isn’t such a good idea.

Today was a good day overall. I  was able to give Julian his bath, play on the computer with him, and read him his favorite book of the month…Green eggs and Ham by Dr Seuss.. uniterrupted! This doesn’t happen that often, but am glad we got our time.

During the week i read to both Julian and Eli while nursing Eli in the morning. It has now stuck to a routine and they tend to expect this daily, which is pretty good. Julian gets to sit beside me and listen. He is a great helper too, he talks to the baby, sings to the baby and teach him some words. It is funny watching him do it.

I better go get to the cooking,  and some chores…stay blessed!

Breastfeeding basics

Print

If you have to choose between bottle feeding and breast feeding , breast feeding should be your # 1 choice. I believe you will be giving your baby a good start in life.  I understand it is not easy the first few days, it is very easy to want to give up, seriously. Getting the baby to latch on in the beginning wasn’t easy. Remember you are pretty much teaching them, and trying to find a good position/ balance.  Some people choose to exclusively pump instead, and that is ok.

I pump at work and at home if  the baby is sleeping and  when am too full. I find pumping has really boost my supply. Remember the rule of supply and demand works in milk making. The more the you feed/pump the more your body makes.

To help boost my supply, i eat oatmeal and when i take a nap, i wake up full, so rest as much as you can ( though it is hard finding that time). I drink lots of water for hydration throughout the day.

Some people swear by these things  : fenugreek , blessed thistle, some blends like Mother’s Love More Milk Plus, the prescription drug Reglan can also help increase your milk supply – yes it is perfectly ok for your baby.
